Saturday May 29, 2021 OUTLINE streams: in dubio
For this radio session, we invited 13 current students and recent graduates from MA programs Dutch Art Institute and Werkplaats Typografie to re-consider, re-imagine and re-construct a finished project of their own making. Through a gently impelled state of being in dubio they will measure past thoughts and decisions with the intricacies and ongoingness of the current. By concentrating on an interior polyphony through exercises of disassembling and proposing new contexts or layers, and by questioning the linearity of the artistic process and the idea of completion. An equation of the past participle and the active voice. The acts will be broadcast on PHANTOM RADIO SATURDAY MATINEE 3PM ALL AGES, an open stage for parallel activities initiated by Marcus Wachter.
what you are hearing is the yesterday cage.
“now, people are walking into the john cage*, one after another. they will put on the headphones; what they’re going to hear is the recording from the exact same moment yesterday.
*john cage is a semi-outdoor balcony outside the kitchen at the WT building in arnhem.
the balcony is tiny – it has only 2 chairs. the space is so small that when people sit, their legs need to be on the fence.
the fence making it a cage.
people use it for smoking, or as a fridge in winter, to cool beers.
sometimes, to watch people and cars passing by.”
Cave Piece (working title)
by Maud Gyssels
“Cave Piece (working title) is based on a sculptural work consisting of a concrete mountain and a ceramic cave; a couple of hands grasping each other was projected from the mountain into the cave. The sonic translation is about going inwards, towards being and knowing, finding a place where all is one is whole, where speaking and acting become superfluous.”
The Listening Group
Anna Piroska Tóth and Leon Filter read The Garden by Derek Jarman
“Anna Piroska Tóth and Leon Filter read The Garden by Derek Jarman. The Listening Group is a conversational communal research and discussion framework, attending to textual works by means of listening. The current focus lies on ‘reading films’, employing reading as a way to find openings that enable the participants to find connections to already completed works. Accessing films orally aims to bypass supposed visual entry points in order to attend to something not obviously phrased or only vaguely expressed. The chosen films are part of the trajectory bodies and antibodies in cinema by the study group curating positions convening at DAI.“
“Krzysztof Bagiński prepared a short doubtful music mix accompanied by a visualiser inspired by the window in front of his desk on a rainy night.”

“in 2019 i made a performance around the song ‘quarry procession’ by meredith monk. for me the song is the ultimate ballad to codependency, a catalogue of every sweet and bitter taste the word ‘you’ can evoke. feels like the world’s been in freefall since then. listening back to it means catching up on grief from the last fourteen months. here it is repackaged in a new shell. sending love”

KONGJAK + MW
“A reiteration of sonic improvisation in combination with a DJ set vibrating between the fragmentary sonic archive that KONGJAK collects and transient drum beats nurtured by hard drive storage and muscle memory.”
